Joyce Faye Herndon, 81, passed away on November 18, 2025, at Uvalde Memorial Hospital. Born on November 19, 1943, in Leakey, Texas, she was the daughter of Lorene (Haby) and Jim Cravey, spending her childhood in Leakey.
On July 10, 1965, Joyce married Jim Herndon in Leakey. She attended Southwest Texas Junior College and embarked on a successful career in agricultural lending, dedicating over 40 years to Farm Credit.
Known affectionately as “Dollie,” Joyce cherished her time with family and friends. She loved to travel with her sisters and was an avid San Antonio Spurs fan, often engaging in lively discussions during games through the family group chat. Above all, she treasured her role as “Dodo” to her grandchildren, Trace and Brady.
Joyce is survived by her son, Bryan Herndon, and wife, Marcy, of D’Hanis; two sisters, Shirley Greenwalt of Castroville and Margaret Davis of Uvalde; a brother, Doug Cravey, and wife, Judy, of Leakey; two grandchildren, Trace and Brady Herndon; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Jim Herndon; her parents; two sisters, Jackie Baker and Jamie Harris; and a brother, Bud Cravey.
Pallbearers will include Ron Baker, Don Baker, Mike Baker, Wayne Montgomery, Dana Manoushagian, and Donna Schuster.
Visitation is scheduled for Monday, November 24, 2025, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Rushing-Estes-Knowles Mortuary. A graveside service will follow on Tuesday, November 25, 2025, at 10:30 a.m. at Hillcrest Cemetery.
