Josefa Ruiz Treviño

Josefa Ruiz, 87, of Uvalde, Texas passed away on June 4, 2026, at The Enclave in San Antonio, Texas.
She was born on January 11, 1939, in Concan, Texas to Adelina (Villareal) and Guadalupe Ruiz.

She married Luis W. Treviño in Unionville, Michigan.

Josefa Treviño was a woman of rare beauty, independent spirit, and a heart overflowing with love for everyone she met. Blessed with the ultimate green thumb, she turned her yard into a manicured paradise, pouring her pride and hard work into every perfect blade of grass and flourishing plant. Her garden was a vibrant canvas, beautifully decorated with pieces of art that she lovingly painted herself. She found deep joy in the simple, beautiful moments of life. Every single morning, she could be found outside drinking her coffee, quietly enjoying the crisp freshness of a new day. She loved the thrill of going to the river, the peace of taking photographs, and the vitality of her daily jogs. When it was time to rest, she loved nothing more than watching a good Western movie, or sitting beneath the shade of her favorite tree, visiting and sharing stories with her friends and family.Family was her absolute pride and joy. With a naturally funny spirit, she loved to make people laugh, bringing joy into every room. She made friends effortlessly; to know her was to love her, because she possessed a warmth that drew people in instantly. When her time came, she passed away peacefully, leaving this world with the same grace and quiet strength that she lived by. The greatest legacy and lesson she leaves behind for her family is the power of a fierce work ethic: to always be a hard worker and to never, ever give up. She lived that lesson every day, and her love will continue to bloom in the hearts of her family forever.

Josefa is survived by two sons, Eleazar Treviño and wife, Marissa of Pflugerville and Eligio Treviño and wife, Claudia of San Antonio; five daughters, Esmeralda Flores and husband, Armando of Uvalde, Rachel Gonzales and husband, Eliseo of San Antonio, Adela Gonzales and husband, Martin of Maxwell, Angie Cruz and husband, Joe of Uhland, and Maricela Yañez and husband, Margarito of Big Springs; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
