Jose H. Olvera was called into the arms of the Lord on Tuesday, December 27, 2022 at the age of 71 at Methodist Metropolitan Hospital in San Antonio.
Jose was born in Uvalde on February 3, 1951 to the late Jose L. and Margarita Hernandez Olvera.
Jose was a devoted Husband, Father, and Grampy. He loved spending time with his family and enjoyed the great outdoors. He especially loved fishing and hunting. Jose was also a devout Catholic, praying the Rosary every night with his beloved wife Rosa and attending Mass at St. George Maronite Catholic Church.
He is reunited in Heaven with his parents Jose and Margarita; son, Marcos Jaime Olvera; siblings Vicente Olvera, Elsa O. Stark; and brother-in-law Ken Stark.
Jose will be dearly missed by his loving wife of 43 years Rosa Maria G. Olvera of San Antonio; son Jose Ramon Olvera (Maricela)of San Antonio; grandchildren, Alyssa “Fatso”, Aidan “Nains”, Adrian “Ajin”, and Adalynn “Fatty Addy” all of San Antono; sister Rosa Segovia (Johnny) of Corpus Christi; mother-n-law, Natividad Gonzales of Uvalde; and extended family and numerous friends.
Family and friends will meet at St. George Maronite Catholic Church, from 1:00pm until 3:00pm on Friday, January 6, 2023. The Rosary will begin at 3:00pm with a Funeral Mass to follow at 3:30pm. Visitation for Jose in Uvalde will be held on Monday, January 9, 2023 from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Rushing-Estes-Knowles Mortuary. A rosary will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, January 9, 2023 at Rushing-Estes-Knowles Mortuary. A Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, January 10, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church.
Pallbearers in San Antonio will be Aidan Olvera, Adrian Olvera, Johnny Tambunga, Mike Aguilar, Carlos Olvera, Javier Segovia and Rocky Bernal. In Uvalde Aidan Olvera, Adrian Olvera, Jerry Gonzales, Hector Hernandez, Emilio Hernandez, Jose Gonzalez, Bobby “BJ” Gonzales, Raymond Gonzales and Nicholas Gonzales.
Cremation is under the direction of Rushing-Estes-Knowles Mortuary.
