Jose Contreras Martinez, Jr. of Uvalde passed away on November 8, 2007 at Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio at the age of 37. He was born in Uvalde on March 25, 1970 to Jose and Eusevia Martinez, Sr. He married Melita Directo in Uvalde on March 5, 2000. He is survived by his wife of seven years; father, Jose C. Martinez, Sr.; mother, Eusevia Hernandez husband, Eduardo; son, Jose C. Martinez III; three sisters, Cynthia Martinez, Josephine Lara, and Marisol Martinez; brother, Antonio Martinez, all of Uvalde; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews. A rosary will be held on Tuesday and Wednesday nights at 7:00 PM at the Rushing-Estes-Knowles Chapel. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, November 15, 2007, at 11:00 AM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with burial to follow in Hillcrest Cemetery.
