John Cecil Penney

John Cecil Penney, Sr., 74, of Uvalde, Texas passed away on August 10, 2025, at his residence.

He was born on August 29, 1950, in Alpine, Texas to Winno Jean (Holmes) and Ervin Crockett Penney, Sr.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, August 16, 2025, at 10 a.m. at Batesville Cemetery.

He married Sandy Grishaw on July 1, 2000, in Navasota, Texas.

He is survived by his wife of Navasota; four daughters, Melynda Collins and husband, Chevy, Vicki Penney, Tommi Maddox, and Molly Penney all of Uvalde; two sons, John Cecil Penney, Jr. and wife Tammy of Eddie and Henry Penney and wife, Pallie of Knippa; sister, Nancy Rae Perry, of Navasota; brother, Ervin Penney of Grapevine; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Merri Upchurch Penney; four sisters, Cecilia Kirk, Jettie McGee, Barbara Clark, and Mary Elizabeth Herring; brother, Kenneth (Tater) Upchurch; son in law, Rusty Maddox; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Henry and Wilma Upchurch; and, granddaughter, Stephanie Ann Bowden

Pallbearers will be JW Thomas Blackman, Guy Wesley Collins, John Cecil Penney III, Jacob McKee, Travis Jay Penney Dylan Maddox, John Paul Maddox, and Logan Henry Penney.
