John Henry Owen

John H. Owen III passed away on July 31, 2026 at his home at the age of 75. He was born on August 29, 1950 to John Henry Owen Jr. and Martha Moore Owen of South Boston, Virginia.

A memorial service will be held on Aug. 29, 2026, at 2 p.m. at Sabinal Methodist Church.

He married Frances Clary on December 24, 1985 in Sabinal, TX., Methodist Church.

John attended public schools in South Boston, VA. After graduating high school, he served his country in the United States Air Force stationed at Udorn Airbase in Thailand during the Vietnam War. His military service instilled a sense of purpose and discipline that was greatly applied to personal development and family. He graduated from Tusculum College in Greenville, Tennessee with a Bachelor of Science (Applied Organizational Management) degree on December 11, 1994.

John is survived by his wife of 40 years Frances Clary Owen of Sabinal, TX., Christopher Levoyd Owen, husband of Melissa of Gillette, WY., John Henry Owen IV, husband of Elizabeth of Katy, TX., and Trevor Scott Owen of Houston, TX.

John was preceded in death by his above-mentioned mother and father as well as his sister Janet Scott Owen of South Boston, VA.

He is survived by his wife of 40 years Frances Clary Owen of Sabinal, TX, his afore mentioned sons and seven grandchildren; Jayden Nicole Owen and Ashley Jordin Owen daughters of Christopher Levoyd Owen, Addison Estelle Owen, Kaiya Rae Owen, Anika Mae Owen, John Henry Owen V, and Korrine Esther Owen, daughters and son of John Henry Owen IV.

Some of his fondest memories were made with family, including but not limited to hosting the Clary/Meyer clan for Thanksgiving, hunting with Marty Smith and the Clary boys, fishing with his sons, and attending iconic live music events with his wife.

He would encourage all that read this to save more money than you spend, to give your time to those you cherish, and not leave any regrets on the table.
