John Ortegon

John R. Ortegon of La Pryor passed away on January 25, 2021 at Methodist Hospital in San Antonio at the age of 59.  He was born on May 14, 1961 in Saginaw, Michigan to Ramon Ortegon Jr. and Olga Perez.

He is survived by his mother of La Pryor; daughter, Jacklyn Ortegon and husband, Isidoro Camacho of Uvalde; sons, John R. Ortegon and companion, Araseli Roque  and Jacob R. Ortegon all of La Pryor; sister, Olga Gonzales and fiancé, Joe Hinojosa of La Pryor; brother, Carlos Ortegon, Jesse Ortegon and companion, Maggie Ortiz and Joe Ortegon all of La Pryor; 11 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; mother of his children, Maggie Ortegon of Chicago; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father; son, Joshua Ray Ortegon; granddaughter, Jalyssa Raylynn Ortegon and sister, Anna Castillo.

Visitation will begin on Wednesday at 5;00 p.m. A rosary will be held on Wednesday and Thursday at 7:00 p.m. at Rushing-Estes-Knowles Mortuary.  A funeral mass will be held on Friday, January 29, 2021 at 10:00 am. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in La Pryor.  Interment will follow at La Pryor Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Jesus Victorino, Jr., Jermayne Ortegon, Jalin Victorino, Nicholas Ruano, Thomas Castillo, Jose Ramon Ortegon, Joe Ortegon and Eddie Trinidad.

Honorary pallbearers will be Joe Hinojosa and Jesse James Ortegon.
