Joaquin Ray Terrazas

Joaquin Ray Terrazas, 20, of Uvalde passed away on April 22, 2026, in Uvalde, Texas.

He was born on January 19, 2006, in Uvalde, Texas to Sandra (Saiz) and Joe Roy Terrazas.

Joaquin, known to most as Jakey was a young Christian man who grew up attending Templo Cristiano church and part of the Royal Rangers ministries. He graduated from Uvalde High School, Class of 2024. Jakey was a jack of trades, putting his hard work and dedication into everything he produced. He was a Correctional Officer for the Uvalde Sheriff's Office where he not only impacted those who had the opportunity to work alonside him, but everyone he met. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle and especially cherished the time he spent with his family. His gentle, considerate and goofy personality is something we will always cherish and remember.

He married Samara Martinez on May 31, 2024, in Uvalde, Texas.

He is survived by his wife Samara Martinez of Uvalde; parents, Joe Roy and Sandra Terrazas of Uvalde; sister, Amanda Terrazas of Uvalde; maternal grandmother, Mary Alice Rios of Uvalde; maternal step grandmother, Mary Alice Saiz of Uvalde; three brothers, Jose Luis Terrazas and companion, Mackenzie Welch of Uvalde; Jose Antonio Terrazas and wife, Jocelyn and Vicente Terrazas and companion, Dalilah Rodriguez all of Uvalde; mother in law, Jazzmyn Reyes of Uvalde; nieces and nephews, Jeffrey Terrazas, Emilio Terrazas, Camila Terrazas, Caleb Terrazas, Natalia Terrazas, Eliseo Terrazas, and Dulce Terrazas; two sisters in law; Cyanna Moreno and Sariah Martinez.

He is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Roy and Dora Terrazas and paternal grandfather, Crispin L. Saiz.

Visitation will be held at 5 p.m., Sunday, April 26, 2026, with a prayer service at 7 p.m. at Rushing-Estes-Knowles Mortuary.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, April 27, 2026, at 10 a.m. at Templo Cristiano. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Jose Luis Terrazas, Jose Antonio Terrazas, Vicente Terrazas, Jeffrey Terrazas, Cristian Blanco, D'Andre Carroll, E'Lijah Carroll, Adriel Gonzales, Julyus Martinez, and Jose Villarreal.
