Jeffrey David Hutchison

Jeffrey David Hutchison, a beloved husband, brother, uncle, and friend, passed away on August 19, 2026, at the age of 40. Born on March 2, 1986, in Uvalde, Texas, Jeff was a beacon of strength and kindness, leaving an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Jeff was the cherished son of Sam and Nita Hutchison, who instilled in him the values of compassion and service. He was predeceased by his grandparents, Robert and Evelyn Hutchison and Bunky and Wanda Rankin, as well as by his uncles, Bob Hutchison and Bill Hutchison, and aunt, Nancy Johnson. Jeff leaves behind a devoted family, including his wife of 16 years, Korena Hutchison, who was introduced to him by his brother Sammy and sister-in-law Ashley. Their love story began with a serendipitous phone call from a beer festival in Colorado, blossoming into a deep and enduring partnership. Together, they navigated life's journey, from Jeff's military service to their shared adventures across Texas.

A proud graduate of Uvalde High School's Class of 2004, Jeff's dedication to his country was evident through his service in the US Army. From November 2006 to December 2011, he served with honor and distinction, becoming a member of Fort Drum's 10th Mountain, 2nd Battalion, 22nd Infantry Regiment, affectionately known as the Triple Deuce as well as Fort Carson's 4th Infantry Division, 3rd Squadron, 61st Calvary Regiment. His military career saw him through deployments in Iraq and Afghanistan, where he forged bonds with fellow soldiers that transcended the battlefield.

After his military service, Jeff returned to Texas, where he found his true calling in the world of rodeo and bucking bulls. His passion for the sport and his dedication to mentoring bull riders became his life's work. Jeff's talent for fixing anything and his willingness to lend a helping hand were legendary, earning him a reputation as a 'jack-of-all-trades' with a heart of gold.

Jeff's smile could light up any room, and his infectious personality brought joy to everyone he met. Whether working on cars, patching fences, or simply sharing a laugh, he embodied generosity and warmth. His loyal canine companions, Freddie, Cinco, Buckle Bunny, and PeeWee, were his constant shadows.

He is survived by his loving sister, Cathy Balke, and her husband Michael; brother Sammy Hutchison and his wife Ashley; nephews, Vann Balke and his wife Diana, Cole Balke, Landon Hutchison, Kanin Faycosh, and Korin Faycosh; niece, Paige Balke; great-nephews Hayden Balke, Luca Balke, and Liam Balke; along with an extended family of uncles, aunts, and cousins who adored him.

A service to honor Jeff’s life will be held on August 29, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Hillcrest Cemetery, 527 N. Lovers Ln, Uvalde, TX 78801.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to RUCK FOR THE FALLEN, an organization close to Jeff's heart, based in Colfax, Washington.

Jeff’s legacy of love, laughter, and unwavering support will be forever cherished by his family, friends, and all whose lives he touched. His spirit will continue to inspire those who knew him to live with kindness, courage and a generous heart.
