James Levi Everett of Uvalde, Texas passed away on December 3, 2023 at the age of 86.  He was born on April 18, 1937 in Uvalde to Oliver Floyd Everett and Winnie Faye Miller.

James married Barbara Ann Shaw on August 11, 1957 in Uvalde, TX.

He went to school in Uvalde and graduated in 1957. James joined the Air Force in 1958, worked as an aircraft mechanic in the Air Force. James was a Veteran of the Vietnam War and was awarded a Meritorious Service Award. He retired after twenty years at the rank of Master Sergeant. He worked for the United States Postal Service for another twenty years where he retired. James was involved in the American Legion, the Bass Club, and was a member of First Baptist Church, Uvalde.

James Everett is survived by son, James Everett and partner Samantha Adams of Woodinville, WA; daughter, Jean Ann Chisum and husband Bubba Chisum of Uvalde; sisters, Maxine Scott; Nadine Welch of Uvalde; granddaughter Shelby Brennan and husband Kyle of Arizona; Dalton Chisum and wife Alysha of Uvalde; Erika Sather of Washington; Abigail Chisum of Uvalde; Lance Sather of Washington; and Recci Chisum of Uvalde and six great grandsons of whom he was very proud.

James is preceded in death by wife Barbara, parents Oliver and Winnie, and sister Uvyonne and brothers-in-law Joe Scott and Clyde Welch.

A memorial service will be held on December 30th at 11 am. at Rushing-Estes-Knowles Mortuary.

Pallbearers will be Shane Davenport, Dean Grasser, Randy Hicks, and Spencer Dubose. 

Honorary pallbearers will be James Mason, Dale Mason, Junior Mason, Kenny Mason, and Mike Mason.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Flights to Forever or the Briscoe Animal Resource Center of Uvalde.
