J. Herndon

Mr. J.B. Herndon of Spofford passed away June 30, 2007 in Uvalde Memorial Hospital at the age of 95.

He was born Feb. 15, 1912 in Barksdale, Tx. to George Mamie Herndon.

He is survived by his wife, Jessie Herndon of Spofford: daughter, Mary Hal Herndon of Uvalde; sons, Jack Herndon of East Benard Don Herndon wife, Anita of Sabinal; Step-sons, Guy Randall Billings, Danny Billings, both of Spofford and J.R. Smith of Cheyenne, Wy.; sister, Cleo H. Winn of Uvalde; brothers, Louis Herndon, Russell Herndon, Dick Herndon and Elmer Herndon all of Uvalde; daughter-in-law, Joyce Herndon of Hondo; grandchildren, Bill Spurgers Jr. of Uvalde, James Spurgers Debbie of Hondo, Robert Spurgers Eva of Uvalde, Jamie Van Antwerp Edward of Conroe, Michalle Helmuth Randy of Las Vegas, Nev., Ronnye Gay New Charles of East Benard, Russ Herndon Sharron of East Benard, Wade Herndon Dyann of East Benard, Clegg Herndon Shannon of East Benard, Bryan Herndon Marcy of Gonzales, Chuck Herndon of San Antonio,and Donna Tanksley of Hondo, 25 Great Grandchildren and 23 Great-Great Grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Preceded in death by his parents; son, James Jim Herndon, his first wife, Loraine Mayes; one daughter-in-law, Janie Herndon.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 2, 2007 at 2:00 P.M. at Rushing-Estes-Knowles Chapel. Interment will follow in Uvalde Cemetery. Mr. Ray Melton will officiate.

Arrangements are by Rushing-Estes-Knowles Mortuary.
