Ima LaNelle Perkins, 86, of Uvalde, Texas, passed away on June 23, 2026.
She was born on August 29, 1939, at Merritt Hospital in Uvalde, Uvalde County, Texas.
A private memorial will be held at Barksdale Cemetery in Edwards County, Texas, at a later date. In lieu of flowers, she requested that you read Luke 6:31 KJV and pass it on.
LaNelle, a retired educator and volunteer, worshipped with area congregations of the Church of Christ.
Her parents were Howard Lofton and Ima B. (Craig) Perkins. They and her brother, Michael “Mike” Lofton Perkins, predeceased her.
Her beloved survivors are, Rosemary (Knippa) Perkins, sister-in-law of Luling, TX (formerly of Gonzales, TX); nieces/nephews, Kathryn (Perkins) and Sidney Jackson of Elgin, TX, Cynthia (Perkins) and Joe Measom and son Rian of Luling, TX, love-adopted “nephew” Russell Measom and wife Marianna and daughters Parker and Laine of Victoria, TX, beloved cousins, The Cowan clan, The Scott clan, The Herndon/Winn clan, The Perkins clan, The Craig clan, The Wood clan.
she also love-adopted many people into her life, including the Capehearts; Mickey Esquivel; Paul Martinez and family; Richard, a kind neighbor; Carlos and Joleen Gonzales; Yolanda Moreno and family; Brian Buesing; Gary Behring; Tim Knesek; Darren Berger; the “60” neighbors; EMS and firemen; co-workers; parents of students; and all the people she ever taught.
