Ignacio Tovias Martinez

Ignacio Tovias Martinez, 93, of Uvalde, Texas passed away on May 31, 2026, at Uvalde Memorial Hospital.

He was born on July 31, 1932, in Jimenez, Mexico to Benita (Tovias) and Jose Luis Martinez.

He is survived by four daughters, Elizabeth Rivera and husband, Roland, Irene Morales, Dora Florek, and Rosie Gutierrez all of Uvalde; three sons, Raymond Martinez, and wife, Dina, Ignacio Martinez all of Uvalde, and Henry Martinez and wife, Maria Rosa Sanchez of Weslaco; five sisters, Ramona Kraus, of Wisconsin, Lydia Martinez, of Uvalde, Vicky Pena of Uvalde, Abelina Gilmore of Grand Prairie, and Rita Mize of Uvalde; two brothers, Frank Martinez, of Kerrville and Carlos Martinez of Michigan; and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Cristela Castro Martinez; two daughters, Olga Martinez, and Yvette Tovar; son in law, Daniel J. Florek; two brothers, Tom Martinez and Jesus Martinez; and sister, Dolores Duran.

Visitation will begin on Friday, June 5, 2026, from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. and a rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. at Rushing-Estes-Knowles Mortuary.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 6, 2026, at 11 a.m. at Rushing-Estes-Knowles Mortuary.

Interment will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery. 

Pallbearers will be Juan Carlos Gutierrez, Henry "Bombo" Martinez, Adrian Martinez, Kathryn "Negrita" Florek, Matthew "Gordo" Cordova and Arturo "Tito" Sanchez, Nachito "Orejon" Martinez, Benito Martinez  

Honorary pallbearer will be Colton "Panchito" Oschner.
