Guadalupe Garcia, Jr. of Uvalde, Texas, passed away on April 14, 2025, at University Hospital in San Antonio, Texas.
A memorial service to honor his life will be held on May 10, 2025, at 10 a.m. at Casa El Shaddai, located at 700 N. High St., Uvalde, Texas.
Born on September 9, 1954, in Uvalde, Texas, Guadalupe was the son of Maria (Zapata) and Guadalupe Garcia, Sr. He united in marriage with Gloria Lopez on May 2, 1996, in Wichita Falls, Texas.
Most recently, Guadalupe served as the director and co-pastor at El Shaddai Uvalde Church, where he made a lasting impact on his community. His dedication to service extended beyond his church, as he also served in the United States Army from 1974 to 1976, earning the National Defense Service Medal and the Sharp Shooter distinction.
Guadalupe is survived by his beloved son, Bruce Lee Garcia and his wife, Rochieda of Broken Bow, Oklahoma; two granddaughters, Maelycia Garcia and Ileana Garcia; grandson, Kaylo Laurenzana; three sisters, Janie Lopez, Pura Castro, and Alicia Rios, all of Uvalde; his brother, Sam Garcia and his wife, Lili Garcia of Somerset; and dear friend, Alma Mancha of Uvalde. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews who cherished his presence in their lives.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Maria Zapata; father, Guadalupe Garcia, Sr.; daughter, Helen Laurenzana; sister, Margarita Garcia; and his beloved wife, Gloria Lopez Garcia
Guadalupe Garcia, Jr. will be remembered for his unwavering faith, dedication to family, and commitment to serving others. His legacy will continue to inspire those who had the privilege of knowing him.
