Gerry Moore

Gerry A. Moore, 75, died on Sunday, December 13, 2020 at his home, surrounded by the love of his family.

The son of Wayne “Pop” and Elsie Young Moore, Gerry was born and raised in Uvalde, along with his three brothers. At the age of 17, he enlisted in the Air Force, where he pursued a career in aircraft maintenance as a jet engine mechanic. While stationed in Oklahoma, he met and wed Cynthia “Sandy” Howard. They were married for 52 years and had one daughter.

Gerry was a decorated combat veteran, who completed two tours of duty in Vietnam. He was honorably discharged in 1984, after 21 years of loyal and distinguished service to his country. After leaving the military, he worked for an additional 20 years as a field service engineer for Honeywell. Upon retirement, Gerry and Sandy made their home in Reagan Wells. Gerry was one of the founding members of the Reagan Wells Volunteer Fire Department and served as its chief from 2005-2013.

Gerry was preceded in death by both of his parents, Wayne “Pop” Moore (1978) and Elsie Moore (1994), as well as his brothers; Billy Moore (1984), J.L. Swint (2009) and Gene Moore (2020).

He is survived by his wife, Sandy Moore of Reagan Wells; his daughter, Amberdawn Moore of Copenhagen, Denmark; his nephew, Thomas Leo Swint of Pflugerville, and his nieces, Risë Konarik of Victoria and Patina Harrell of Copperas Cove.

Cremation arrangements have been made through Rushing-Estes-Knowles Mortuary. A memorial service will be held at a later date and location to be determined.
