Florencio Martinez

Florencio R. Martinez JR., 77, of Uvalde, Texas passed away on August 9, 2025, at University Hospital in San Antonio, Texas.

He was born on March 4, 1948, in Uvalde, Texas to Alicia (Robles) and Florencio Martinez.

He is survived by his daughter, Laurie Hernandez and husband, Hector of Andrews; two sons, Florencio Martinez, III of Hobbs, New Mexico and Isaac Martinez and wife, Victoria of Corpus Christi; two sisters, Rosie Ibarra, of Racine, Wisconsin and Guadalupe Benitez of San Antonio; two brothers, Jose Luis Tovar and Juan Tovar both of San Antonio; 12 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Elena Gomez Martinez; parents; son, Sammy Martinez; grandson, Marcos Martinez;  sister, Estella Chapoy; daughter in law, Rosa Araceli Martinez.

Visitation will be held on Friday, August from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. with a funeral service on the same day at 10 a.m. at Rushing-Estes-Knowles Mortuary.

Interment will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Hector Hernandez, Amador Tarin, Abraham Tarin, Florencio Martinez, Lee Esparza, and Nancy Martinez.
