Esperanza V. Olvedo

Esperanza V. Olvedo, 92, of Uvalde, passed away on September 26, 2026, at her home.

She was born on August 18, 1934,to Maria (Prado) and Tomas Vasquez.

She is survived by daughter, Diana Karau and husband, Kyle of Uvalde; sons, Robert and wife, Fina Olvedo of Crystal City, Joe and wife, Rosario Olvedo of Uvalde, Richard and wife, Lucy Olvedo of Uvalde, and Oscar and wife, Tina of Abilene.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Adan Olvedo, sons; Roy Vasquez, Armando Olvedo; daughter Sulema Flores; granddaughter, Nicole Olvedo; grandson, Gabriel Olvedo and great grandson Jeremih Flores.

Both parents and eight siblings worked as the main cook at Amber Sky Cafe for 40 plus years until she retired. She continued to do what she loved, cook for her family. She was mostly known for her delicious enchiladas and homemade pies she served at Amber Sky Café.

Pallbearers are Jose Luis Olvedo, Jr. Adam Olvedo, Robert Olvedo, Jr., Castulo “Bam” Olvedo, Richard Flores, Gabriel Flores, Karl Marvin Durham, and Alejandro Grandado.

Honorary pallbearers are Kameren Flores and Robert Flores.

A Mass of Christian burial will be Wednesday, September 30, 2026, at 10:00 am at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. A visitation will be on Tuesday, September 29, 2026, at 2:00 pm to 9:00 pm with a rosary at 7:00 pm at Rushing-Estes-Knowles Mortuary.
