Ernestina Luna

Ernestina Rios, 82, of Batesville, Texas passed away on July 29, 2025, at the Uvalde Memorial Hospital, leaving behind a legacy of love and cherished memories.

She was born on February 9, 1943, in Alice, Texas to Martina (Fonseca) and Cayetano Rios, Sr.

A devoted mother and beloved matriarch, Ernestina is survived by her three daughters, Anna Belia Maldonado of Odessa, Dora Elia Cantu of Andrews, and Norma Campbell and her husband, Corey. She also leaves behind two sons, Cirildo Luna, Jr. and his wife, Thelma of Odessa, and Jose Luna and his wife, Ebony of San Antonio. Ernestina's family continued to grow, and she is remembered fondly by her 16 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren. Her siblings, Cayetano Rios, Jr. of Andrews and Gavino Rios, Jr. of Bryan, Ohio, also mourn her passing, as do numerous nieces and nephews who were touched by her kindness and spirit.

Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband, and her son, Ricardo Luna, as well as three sisters and one brother.

In honoring Ernestina's life, family and friends are invited to attend visitation services on August 6, 2025, from 2:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Rushing-Estes-Knowles Mortuary. Following the visitation, a prayer service will take place from 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the same location.

A funeral service will take place on Thursday, August 7, 2025, at 10 a.m. at Rushing-Estes-Knowles Mortuary. Interment will follow at Batesville Cemetery.

Ernestina Luna will be remembered for her unwavering devotion to her family and her nurturing spirit that brought joy and warmth to all who knew her. Her legacy will continue through her children, grandchildren, and the many lives she touched throughout her remarkable journey.
