Elisa R. Canales

Elisa R. Canales, 91, of Uvalde, Texas passed away on April 16, 2026 at Uvalde Memorial Hospital.

She was born on December 31, 1934, in Uvalde, Texas to Fermin and Teresa Reyes.

She is survived by five daughters Rosa Maria Canales, Lydia Ann Canales (Joe Estrada), Elsie Espinoza, Frances Canales (Sergio Ruiz), Denise Rodriguez (Robert Rodriguez) all of Uvalde; three sons, Alfredo Canales (Carmen Canales) of Austin; Ralph & Fermin Canales (Josie Arellano) of Uvalde; sister Herlinda Salazar (Joe Salazar) of Uvalde; brothers Jose Reyes and Reverend Raul Reyes OCD all of Uvalde; eighteen grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband Frank M Canales JR, sister Ninfa Garcia; brothers Miguel F. Reyes, Alejandro F. Reyes and Gilberto Reyes; sisters-in-laws Carmen Reyes and Estella Reyes.

Visitation will be held on Monday, April 20, 2026, from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. and a rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. at Rushing-Estes-Knowles Mortuary.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday April 21, 2026, at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Sergio Ruiz, Robert Rodriguez, Frankie Canales, Emilio Canales, Mike Ruiz, Sergio Ruiz, Jr., Christopher Ruiz, John Reyna, Felipe Reyna and Francisco Espinoza.
