Dora Hurtado

Dora C. Hurtado, age 92, of Brownwood, Texas formerly of Uvalde passed away on January 5, 2019 in Brownwood. The family will receive friends at the Rushing-Estes-Knowles Mortuary on Tuesday at 6:00 PM and have a prayer service at 7:00 PM. Funeral Services will be held 1:00 PM Wednesday at Templo Cristiano with interment to follow in the Hillcrest Memorial Cemetery.
Dora was born on February 6, 1926 in San Saba, Texas to Jesus and Maxima Martinez Constancia. She was married to Manuel Hurtado in Mexico and he preceded her in death. Dora was a member of the Christian Church in Uvalde and had been a resident of Brownwood for the past ten years. Her greatest passions were for her God, her family and cooking. She was a very devoted mother and grandmother and loved all her family with all her heart. An excellent cook, Dora also enjoyed reading, bird watching and gardening.
Those left to cherish her memory are her children Manuel Hurtado and wife, Liza of Uvalde, Dora Lopez and husband, Wilfredo of Austin, Texas and Guillermo Hurtado and wife, Sandy of San Antonio, Texas; fifteen grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; two sisters Maria C. Perez of Brownwood and Rosa C Reyes of Abilene; also by numerous nieces, nephews and other extended family members who will miss her with all their heart.
Dora was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Manuel Hurtado Sr.; son, Benjamin Hurtado, great grandchild, Kristin Cruz and siblings, Jesus Constancia, Amalia Martinez, Gilberto Constancia and Ramona C. Acevedo.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to her sister Maria Perez for opening the doors to her home where she lived very happy her final years and also to the entire staff at Songbird Lodge Nursing Home.
