Dora June Cook, age 82, passed away Thursday morning, May 14, 2026, at Methodist Hospital due to complications from open heart surgery.


Dora was born on December 15, 1943, in Newton, Kansas, to Ruth Thiessen. Throughout her life, she lived in Kansas, Texas, Oklahoma, North Dakota, Colorado, New Mexico, and Salt Lake City, creating friendships and memories everywhere she went.


Dora was a devoted member and treasurer of Northside Baptist Church and was also a dedicated small business owner. More than anything she was a giving mother, grandmother, and bright light to everyone she knew.


Dora was preceded in death by her beloved spouse, Robert T. Cook; her mother, Ruth; her sister, Carol; her brother, Kenneth; her grandmother Margaret, Aunt Luella; Nora Jane; Dorothy; and Irma.


She is survived by her loving children, Don Williams, Diane Grimnes, and Kimberly Sorensen; her grandchildren, Shelby Grimnes, Dr. Courtney Sorensen, and Bailey Rhodes; and her great-grandchildren, Casen Jay Baker, Owen Schuyler Rhodes, and Lennon Diane Rhodes. She is also survived by her cousins Art, Vern, Glenn and Kris, Donna, Harold and Jean, Pete and Donna and Margie as well as her beloved dog Rooster and wild pet buck, Bucky.


A viewing and funeral service will be held on Friday, May 22, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Northside Baptist Church, located at 1803 Knott Street, Uvalde, Texas 78801.
