Dolores Gonzales peacefully passed away on April 30, 2026, at St. David's North Austin Medical Center, surrounded by the loving family she cherished, at the age of 95.
Dolores was born on December 20, 1930, in San Antonio, Texas, beginning a life that would be defined by faith, devotion, and an extraordinary love for her family. On March 13, 1953, she married the love of her life, Medardo Gonzales, in Uvalde, Texas, a union that would become the foundation of everything she held dear.
Dolores was a woman of great purpose and quiet dedication. She served as a Teacher's Aide with Uvalde County ISD for over 30 years, touching the lives of countless children and leaving a lasting impression on her community. For more than 20 years, she also devoted her Sunday mornings to the nursery at First Methodist Church, nurturing the youngest and most tender members of the congregation. Her Catholic faith was the cornerstone of her life deep, unwavering, and woven into everything she did.
Above all else, Dolores loved her family. Family gatherings were her greatest joy, and she poured her heart into every one of them. She was renowned for her carrot cake made entirely from scratch. A labor of love that became legendary among those lucky enough to taste it. She found simple happiness in her daily crossword puzzles, shopping trips, visits to the casino, and watching old westerns. She treasured every story from the past and told them with warmth and laughter. On the family's yearly beach trips, nothing brought her more peace than making memories and hearing the waves roll in.
Dolores had a rare and beautiful gift: the ability to make every single person she encountered feel seen, heard, and truly important. She gathered friends around her as though they were family, because to her they were. She loved fiercely and without condition, and her kindness left a mark on everyone who had the privilege of knowing her.
She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Medardo Gonzales; her in-laws, Victoria and Jose Miguel Gonzales; her son-in-law, Gilbert L. Ramirez; her sisters-in-law, Francisca Martinez, Leonor Cuellar and Lucia Ybarra.
Dolores is survived by her beloved and only daughter, Cecilia Ramirez; her grandchildren, Michael Rodriguez and his wife Rae-Lynn Rodriguez, and Tasha Ramirez-Marez and her husband Jose Marez. She was blessed with five great-grandchildren, Ashli Reinbolt, Gabriel Rodriguez, Alexander Rodriguez, Jayden Rodriguez, and Thalia Diaz, and two precious great-great-grandchildren, Bridon Martinez and Grayson Martinez. She also leaves behind her sister-in-law, Nena Canales, along with numerous beloved nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
The love Dolores gave so freely and so fully will never fade. She leaves behind a legacy not just of family, but of warmth, faith, and grace. She will be profoundly missed and forever held in the hearts of all who knew her.
Visitation will begin at 2PM on May 07, 2026 to proceed with a rosary at 7pm at Rushing Estes Knowles Mortuary. A funeral Mass will be held at 2PM on May 08, 2026 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery.
