David Salazar, 84, of Uvalde, Texas passed away peacefully on July 19, 2026, at his residence surrounded by his loving family.
He was born on December 3, 1941, in Musquiz, Coahuila, Mexico to Alcaria (Rodriguez) and Miguel O. Salazar.
He married Maria Elena Morin on May 30, 1964, in Musquiz, Mexico.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Maria Elena Salazar of Uvalde; three daughters, Sandra Vasquez and husband, Gilbert, Griselda Flores and husband, Ray all of Uvalde, and Erika Alonzo and husband, Anthony of Independence, Kentucky; son, David Salazar, Jr. and wife, Sheena of Ft. Worth; grandchildren, Sarah Martinez, and husband, Tino, Briana Skaggs and husband, David, Gabriela Rei Flores, Celese Hall and husband, Zane, Cienna Alonzo-Sietz and wife, Daphne; David C. Salazar, III, Samantha E. Salazar, Aidan Salazar, Alex Salazar, and Zeke Salazar; two great grandchildren, Grayson Zane Hall and Koda Salazar.
He is preceded in death by his parents; grandson Aldo Ray Flores Jr. and two brothers, Felix Salazar and Cruz Salazar.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 22, 2026, at 2 p.m. and a rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. at Rushing-Estes-Knowles Mortuary. A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Thursday, July 23, 2026, at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be David Salazar, Jr., David Salazar, III, Aidan Salazar, Alex Salazar, Gilbert Vasquez, Ray Flores, Anthony Alonzo, and Zeke Salazar.
Honorary pallbearer is Aldo Ray Flores, Jr.
