Danielle Diane Harrison, 57, of Uvalde passed away on April 28, 2024, at her residence.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 11, 2024, at 11 a.m. at St. Phillip’s Episcopal Church in Uvalde.

Danielle was born in Houston Texas, July 3, 1966, to Jacqueline M. (Veltmann) and Alfred G. Melancon.

She married Rodney Harrison on October 16, 2004, in Uvalde.

Growing up in Houston she was athletic. She was a star player on her baseball team and a star swimmer of the neighborhood swim team. She was on the pep squad at Sharpstown High School pulling the chariot with the school mascot.

She attended St. Thomas University, in Houston. She came to Uvalde and attended Southwest Texas Junior College and Sul Ross State University. Coming from a family of teachers she earned a degree in education and taught at La Pryor, Rosenberg, Uvalde CISD and at Saint Phillips in Uvalde where she was also principal. She enjoyed camping with her husband, Rodney and going away for weekends sampling local food and culture Texas towns had to offer.

Danielle has always been known for her big heart and willingness to think the best of others. Family was most important to Danielle, she cherished her two sons, Andre Plaza, and Manuel Plaza and was devoted to her beloved husband of 20 years, Rodney Harrison. She has left us all with happy, loving memories.

She is survived by her husband, Rodney Harrison, two sons, Andre Plaza and fiancé, Meredith Hunter of San Antonio and Manuel Plaza of San Francisco, California; three sisters, Monique Mascio and husband, Paul of Houston, Jacqueline Melancon of Uvalde, and Celeste Bahar of Houston; two brothers, Michael Melancon and wife, Ann of Needville Texas, and Patrick Melancon and wife, Pamela of Brackettville; and 15 nieces and nephews.
