Clyde Welch

Clyde Clayton Welch of Uvalde, Texas passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on April 11, 2023, at the age of 83.  He was born on December 11, 1939, in Rio Frio, Texas to Lon Welch and Dora Ann (Annie) Haynes.
He married the love of his life Ethel Nadine Everett on August 6, 1961, in Uvalde, Texas.
He graduated from Uvalde High School in 1958. He learned the trade of carpentry from family members and was a self-employed home builder and carpenter for much of his life.  He is remembered by his family as being a loving, strong, kind, and dedicated husband, father, and PawPaw.  He taught us many valuable lessons.  He had an incredible work ethic and was a great mentor who inspired others.  He was quick at math and could build or fix anything.  He was a successful business owner where most recently, he and his wife were owners of Country View Mobile Home Village where they had many special tenants.
Clyde is survived by his wife of over 61 years of Uvalde; two daughters, Sherry Wilde (Larry) and Elaine Hoffmann (Dale) of San Antonio; sisters Billie Jo Feller (Virgil), Bobby Ray Dodd, brothers William (Tooter) Welch (Doris), and Larry Welch (Shirley); four grandchildren, Benjamin Wilde (Kara), Lauren Rice (Nathan), Ryan Hoffmann (Anastasia), and Aaron Hoffmann (fiancé Mikaela); five great grandchildren, West and Warren Wilde, Lucy and Joanna Rice, Hayes Hoffmann, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Clyde is preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Gertrude Hermes and Mary Lee Engelke; and brothers, Herman Welch, Roy (Pete) Welch, and Norman (Snooks) Welch.
A funeral service will be held at Rushing-Estes-Knowles Mortuary on April 15, 2023, at 11:00 am.  Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Benjamin Wilde, Ryan Hoffmann, Aaron Hoffmann, Jeff Scott, John Scott, and Derrick Charlton.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
