Cirilo Alonzo

Cirilo Alonzo, Jr.,98, of Uvalde passed away on June 21, 2024, at his residence. 

He was born on March 20, 1926, in San Antonio, Texas to Manuela (Riojas) and Cirilo Alonzo, Sr.

He married Berta Rubio on June 21, 1969, in Uvalde, Texas. 

He is survived by his wife of 55 years of Uvalde; four children, Cirilo Alonzo, III and wife, Anna, Dolores Salazar and husband, Roman all of Uvalde, Vidal R. Alonzo and wife, Maribel of La Pryor, and Julieta Gonzalez of Rosita, Mexico; sister, Manuela Trevino of San Antonio; grandchildren, Anthony Alonzo of Ohio, Jaime Alonzo of Uvalde, Rosie Contreras of Uvalde, Chriselda Banda of Uvalde, Veronica Ybarra of Uvalde, Gabriel Salazar of Uvalde, Vidal Jacob Alonzo of Uvalde, Nathan Alonzo of Dallas, Nadyne Alonzo of La Pryor, and Sandra Alonzo of Arkansas; and numerous nieces and nephews. 

He is preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Edward Alonzo and Albert Alonzo; siblings, Jessie Alonzo, Ricardo Alonzo, Anita Gonzalez, Ernesto Alonzo and Guadalupe Gonzalez. 

Visitation will begin on Monday, June 24, 2024, from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. and Tuesday, June 25, 2024, from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. with a rosary both days at 7 p.m. at Rushing-Estes-Knowles Mortuary. A funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, June 26, 2024, at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery. 

Pallbearers will be Vidal Jacob Alonzo, Nathan Alonzo, Cirilo Jaime Alonzo, Pedro ‘Chico” Contreras,  Anthony Alonzo, and Ricky Gallardo.
