Charlie E. Massey, Jr., a revered member of the Uvalde community, passed away on October 21, 2025, at the age of 73. Born on January 14, 1952, in Uvalde, Texas to Charlie Massey Sr. and Mildred Hoisington Massey. Charlie lived a life characterized by his deep-rooted ties to his hometown and his unwavering commitment to his family. Charlie married Charlene Volcker. Charlie was preceded in death by his parents and wife.
Charlie's legacy is carried on by his beloved sons, Tommy Voelcker of Tyler, Texas, and John Massey, of Lawton, Oklahoma and his wife, Jamie. He is also survived by his cherished sister, Lillian Kneip of Uvalde, along with seven grandchildren, whose lives he profoundly influenced. Additionally, Charlie leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews, each of whom will remember him for his kindness and support throughout their lives.
Having grown up in the vibrant community of Uvalde, Charlie built lasting friendships and bonds, many of which were nurtured through his active participation in local events and gatherings. He was known for his warm demeanor and genuine affection for those around him, making a positive impact that will be felt for years to come.
In honoring his memory, a graveside service will be held on October 25, 2025, at Knippa Cemetery, located at 11149 US-90, Knippa, Texas, beginning at 2:00 PM. This solemn occasion will provide family and friends an opportunity to pay their respects and celebrate the life of a remarkable individual who will be profoundly missed.
Charlie's passing marks the end of an era, but his spirit will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know him.
