Charles Lee Reeves

Charles Lee Reeves, 81, of Uvalde passed away on July 8, 2023, at his residence.

A graveside service will be held on Thursday, July 13, 2023, at 10 a.m. at Hillcrest Cemetery. 

He was born on January 29, 1942, in Atlanta, Texas to Gertude (Beasley) and Carl Lee Reeves. 

Charles lived in East Texas until he was in the 3rd grade.  His family moved to Banquete, Texas where he lived until he graduated in 1960.

Charles married Wilta Jean Whitman in 1962 in Robstown, Texas. 

Charles was employed by CPL in March of 1954 and transferred around Texas until his family moved to Uvalde in 1974. Where he said he loved Uvalde and wasn’t going to move.

Charles loved mission work.  He was always willing to work wherever he felt God needed him.  He served as a deacon for many years. He worked as a Sunday school teacher and a counselor over the RA’s and GA’s at the Alto Frio Camp.  He established the Baptist Temple Church TV Ministries.  Charles also worked in Mexico with the children’s home. 

He was with the Texas Baptist Men’s Relief Team and went to Belize and several different countries.  He went to give relief to the Katrina and Rita Hurricane victims in Louisiana and several other areas for natural disasters.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping with family. 

Charles is survived by his wife Jean, son, Troy Reeves and wife, Donna of Uvalde; daughter, Holly Osten and husband, Chris of Crystal Beach; six grandchildren, Amanda Reeves, Jennifer Osten, Katie Reeves, Troy Reeves, Jr. Christopher Osten and Stephanie Osten; three great grandchildren, Audrie Osten, Layne Reeves, and Cullen Osten. 

He is preceded in death by his parents; father-in-law, Bill Whitman ; mother-in- law, Kate Whitman; two brothers in law, Eugene Pavlicek and Jim Britt; two sisters in law, Joyce Pavlicek and Pat Britt; nephew, Terry Pavlicek and niece, Patricia Buckholt.

Charles was a man who left big footprints for God and was loved dearly by family and friends.
