Carmen Alvarado, 80, of Uvalde, Texas passed away on September 15, 2025, at Methodist Metropolitan Hospital in San Antonio, Texas.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 23, 2025, from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m. and a rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. at Rushing-Estes-Knowles Mortuary.A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, September 24, 2025, at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Uvalde, Texas. Interment will follow at 2:30 p.m. at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio, Texas.
She was born on July 16, 1945, in Uvalde to Santos (Torres) and Tomas Avalos.
She married Reynaldo Alvardo on May 8, 1968, in Uvalde, Texas.
Carmen’s faith was central to her life, and she was a devoted member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church for many years. She loved nothing more than spending time with her family, sharing stories and laughter, and blessing everyone with her wonderful cooking. Carmen had a gift for connecting with people; she was friendly to everyone she met and often formed lasting friendships along the way.
She is survived by her loving husband Reynaldo Alvarado of 57 years of Uvalde; two daughters, Annette Oakley and husband, Edward and Melissa Alvarado all of Uvalde; three grandchildren, Edward Oakley and fiancé, Bianca B. Moreno, Hunter Rey Oakley, and Jesse Rey Rios; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Tomas and Santos Avalos; three sisters, Basilisa “Nena” Cruz, Marianna “Wera” Avalos, and Vicenta Alamillo; four brothers, Tomas Avalos, Fidel Avalos, Jose T. Avalos, and Freddy Avalos.
Pallbearers will be Edward Oakley JR., Hunter Rey Oakley, Jesse Rey Rios, Edward Oakley, Ricardo Alamillo and Jose Hurtado.
