Billy Joe (Bill) Greenwalt of Castroville, Texas passed away peacefully at his home on March 2, 2022 surrounded by loved ones.

Bill was born on September 11, 1933 to Thomas Hugh and Molly Leticia (Finley) Greenwalt. As a young boy, he sang in the church choir, played violin and performed in the Corpus Christi Symphony Orchestra.

He graduated from Roy Miller High School in Corpus Christi where he enjoyed playing football during his high school years. He proudly served his country in the United States Army upon graduation from high school. Bills career spanned over 33 years with Southwestern Bell and he retired from AT&T in 1989.

Bill loved spending time with his family and friends, especially the Cravey Family gatherings. He was an avid outdoorsman and spent most of his life hunting and fishing in South Texas, New Mexico and Colorado.  His favorite professional basketball team was the San Antonio Spurs and he cheered them on during every game. Bill and wife Shirley loved traveling by motor home throughout the United States. In recent years, his favorite pasttime was playing poker.

Bill is survived by his loving wife Shirley, just shy of their 43rd Wedding Anniversary.  Bill and Shirley blended their families when they married on March 19, 1979. He is survived by his children, Pamela Douglas of Durango, CO.,  Laura Lutrick (Peter) of Collierville,TN., Matt Greenwalt (Lorraine) of San Antonio, TX.,  daughter in law Julie Greenwalt of Uvalde, Tx., Santa Greenwalt of San Antonio, TX., and stepchildren Sherri Lane (Leo) of Wichita Falls, TX., and Wayne Montgomery of Bastrop,TX.  Bill is preceded in death by his parents Thomas and Molly Greenwalt, brother Jess Greenwalt, sister Dot Bacus, and sons Steven Greenwalt and Mark Greenwalt.

Surviving grandchildren, Shauna Villalobos (Vincent), Josh Greenwalt (Amber), Morgan Mallon (Tommy), Forrest Greenwalt, Sydney Greenwalt, Meagan Bredsguard (Joe), Cole Douglas, Hunter Priest, Slade Priest, Clayton Lane (Holly), Taylor Jurado (Gary), Mia Montgomery and Capri Montgomery.

Surviving great grandchildren Braden Villalobos, Brenlie Villalobos, Greenlee Greenwalt, Tynlee Greenwalt, Benson Bredsguard, Gunnar Bredsguard, James Lane, Amelia Jurado and Elliott Jurado.

He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers: Josh Greenwalt, Forrest Greenwalt, Cole Douglas, Hunter Priest, Slade Priest, Braden Villalobos, and Clayton Lane.

Honorary Pallbearers: John Groom, Doug Cravey, Don Guion, Hugo Knoblauch, Tom Bacus, Wayne Montgomery, Jess Greenwalt, David Greenwalt, and Gerald Greenwalt.

The family will greet visitors at 9:30AM for viewing, followed by a memorial service at 10:30AM at the Church of Christ 125 E. Garden St in Uvalde, Texas on Saturday, March 5, 2022.
