Benita Albarado

Benita Florez Albarado of Uvalde passed away on August 14, 2021 at Uvalde Memorial Hospital at the age of 77.  She was born on March 6, 1944 in Big Spring, Texas to Juan Bonilla Florez and Paula Cuevas Florez.

She is survived by her husband, Evaristo C. Albarado of Uvalde, Texas; daughters, Emie Pace and husband, Mathew, Emma Albarado and partner, Willie Hernandez, Elsie Routh and husband, Rusty, and Elida Lopez and husband, Lupe all of Uvalde, Texas; son, Evaristo Albarado, Jr. and wife, Michelle of Sabinal, Texas; sisters, Paula F. Smith of Arlington, Texas and Erlinda Burgess of Roanoke, Alabama; brother, Juan Florez of Midland, Texas; 11 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; and siblings, Juanita Anzures, Longino Florez, Armando Florez, Victoriana Belen and Juan Pereida.

She was productive with home improvement projects. She enjoyed remodeling homes alongside her husband. She devoted her life to her children, always willing to take care of her family. She had a kind and funny soul and was always supportive and encouraging.

She was an avid researcher who enjoyed history. She was successful in bringing awareness to the Porvenir Massacre of 1918. Her relentless research and persistence brought this period of history to light.

Visitation will begin on Wednesday, August 18, 2021 at 4:00 p.m. followed by a rosary at 7:00 p.m. at Rushing-Estes-Knowles Mortuary.  A funeral mass will be held on Thursday, August 19, 2021 at 9:00 a.m.  at Sacred Heart Catholic Church.  Interment will follow at Rio Frio Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Evaristo Albarado, Jr., Evaristo Albardo, III, Shayne Albarado, Reymundo Lara, III, Jose Leal, Jr., and Juan Belen, Jr.

Honorary pallbearers will be Logan Lopez and Juan Florez.
