Ann Nettles Fleming passed peacefully in her home in Uvalde,Tx on Saturday July 6. She was born in Dallas,Tx on February 8,1934 to educators, Nellie Maurine McDaniel Crenshaw and Dr. Troy Clay Crenshaw. She was a teacher at heart and by profession. She taught in several schools in Fort Worth in the beginning of her career. After she earned her Masters in English from TCU she taught at Tarrant County Jr. College. While working on her Doctorate took her to South Texas she taught in Dilley,Tx for a few years before moving to Southwest Texas Junior College in Uvalde. She loved her students and everyone she worked with. Ann was very active in Uvalde Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, Uvalde area Retired Teachers Association, Uvalde Garden Club, Widow’s Mite, Aglow, Daughters of the King, Prayer group and Book clubs and more. She initiated the Hospice in Uvalde. Ann loved her family and friends and her church and traveling.
She was preceded in death by her sister Nancy Frost and her husband William Douglas Nettles. She is survived by her children John Burgin and wife Paula, Cindy Briscoe and husband Ron, Kim Graham and husband Charlie (Boots) and step children Robin Black, Jenny Barker, and Malcom Nettles. She left behind 7 grand children; Lance Peltier, Blake Peltier, Beau Peltier, Elizabeth Gracy, Justin Burgin, Kelsie Burgin, and Casey Graham and 9 great grandchildren and 3 nieces and a nephew.
Services will be at St Phillips Episcopal Church on Saturday July 13 with the visitation on Friday, July 12 at Rushing-Estes-Knowles Mortuary and Graveside ceremony at Greenwood Cemetary in Ft Worth, Tx. at 10 am on Monday, July 15.
Ann was infinitely and selflessly giving of her time and energy and will be dearly missed by all who loved her.
