Alicia Borrego

Alicia "Licha" Amescua Borrego passed away February 18, 2022 at Medina Regional Hospital at Hondo, Texas. She was born to Roberto and Leonor (Rangel) Amescua on March 26, 1949 at Hagerman, New Mexico. She was raised in Sabinal, Texas and married her teenage sweetheart Meliton Borrego. They had six children.

Alicia loved family, the Dallas Cowboys, casinos, and playing the lottery.

She is survived by her sons, Meliton Borrego, Jr.,  Joe Borrego and wife, Olivia, Benito Borrego, and Adam Borrego all of Sabinal, Texas; daughter, Selina Borrego of Sabinal, Texas; brothers, Roberto Amescua and wife, Elva of Uvalde, Texas; and Luis Amescua and wife, Odilia of Sabinal, Texas; sisters, Rosalinda A. Soriano and husband, Domingo of San Antonio, Texas and Estella A. Borrego and husband, Rodolfo of Sabinal, Texas; daughter in law, Anita Borrego of Abilene, Texas; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents, son, Israel Borrego; and daughter in law, Rebecca Borrego.

Visitation will begin on Thursday February 24, 2022 at 10:00 AM followed by a rosary at 7:00 p.m. at Rushing-Estes-Knowles in Sabinal, Texas. A funeral mass will be on Friday February 25, 2022 at 10:00 AM at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Sabinal, Texas. Interment will follow at St. Patrick's cemetery.
