Abelardo Ramirez

Abelardo M. Ramirez of Uvalde passed away on October 23, 2019 in Uvalde at the age of 92.  He was born on January 2, 1927 in Coahuila, Mexico to Ignacio Ramirez and Cruz Mata.

He married Maria Guadalupe Esquivel on September 1955 in Uvalde.

Abelardo was very proud when he became a United States citizen and earned the right to vote.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years of Uvalde; sons, Francisco “Frank” Ramirez and wife, Ada , Martin Ramirez and wife, Tina, Rojelio “Roy” Ramirez and wife, Margie all of Uvalde and Jose Luis “Joe” Ramirez and wife, Dalia of La Pryor; grandchildren, Veronica Piles and husband, Danuel, Christopher Ramirez, Crystal Janes and husband, Billy, Vince Ramirez and wife, Crystal, Cassandra Fuentes and husband, Raymond, April Carrillo and husband, Mario, Selena Ramirez and Emma Dee Ramirez; great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and granddaughter, Chelsie Ramirez; 4 sisters, 3 brothers

A rosary will be held on Thursday at 7:00 p.m. at Rushing-Estes-Knowles Mortuary.  A funeral mass will be held on Friday, October 25, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church.  Interment will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Vince Ramirez, Raymond Fuentes, Mario Carrillo, Juan Mario Navarro, Jose Angel Garcia, and Danuel Austin Piles
