Anselmo “Chema” Martinez of Uvalde passed away on June 10, 2019 in San Antonio at the age of 78. He was born on April 21, 1941 in Crystal City to Cleto and Luisa (Mendoza) Martinez.
He was a proud member of "The Light of the World", "Luz del Mundo" church in Uvalde.
He is survived by his sisters, Victoria Rodriguez and Maria Rodriguez both of Uvalde; brothers, Juan Martinez of Florida and Cleto Martinez, Jr. of Uvalde; and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, great- great nieces and great- great nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Maria Guadalupe Fernandez.
Visitation will begin on Thursday at 1:30 p.m. at Rushing-Estes-Knowles Mortuary. A prayer service will be held on Thursday and Friday at 6:30 p.m. at Rushing-Estes-Knowles Mortuary. A funeral service will follow on Saturday, June 15, 2019 at 9:00 a.m. at Rushing-Estes-Knowles Mortuary. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery.
